2018 Recommendations for Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® Officers and Directors
President: Don Smith (currently serving as President-Elect)
Don serves as President of Coldwell Banker Chicora and the Chicora companies. He is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in accounting. As a REALTOR® for more than 38 years, he has earned the CRB, CRS and GRI professional real estate designations. He was awarded the REALTOR® Image Award in 1999. Don has served on most of the standing committees of CCAR and currently serves on the Board of Directors and MLS Committee. Don currently serves as President-Elect on the CCAR Board of Directors.
President-Elect: Don Thomas
A New Jersey native, Don has been in the real estate industry for 20 years. He has been very involved with the Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® serving on Grievance and Professional Standards committees. Don received the Image Award in 2013 for his community work. He is a REALTOR® with The Lachicotte Company and presently serves as CCAR Board Secretary.
Treasurer: Renny Diedrich
Renny Diedrich earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She became a REALTOR® in 2002 and joined Coldwell Banker, where she practiced Real Estate in the Milwaukee Area for 12 years. While living in Wisconsin, Renny was active in her local REALTOR® Association of Northeast WI as a member of the Equal Housing Committee, Professional Standards and Finance Committees. In 2013 she was the Chairman of the Board of the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association. In 2013, Renny was Wisconsin’s REALTOR® of the Year. In January 2014, Renny and her husband, Tim moved to Myrtle Beach. Currently, Renny serves on the Legislative and RPAC committees for CCAR and the Technology and Risk Management committees for SCR and is presently serving a term on the CCAR Board of Directors.
Secretary: Adam Cates
Adam Cates serves as an Advisor with Tradd Commercial and focuses on the commercial brokerage market in the Myrtle Beach MSA. In 2013 he achieved the coveted Certified Commercial Investment Member(CCIM) designation. He is a founding member of the Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® Commercial Investment Division and has served on the legislative committee. Adam is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations. He served the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross as a media relations specialist during the Hurricane Katrina crisis and provided media training for the Citizen Soldier Initiative. He is presently serving a term on the CCAR Board of Directors.
Past-President: Norm Clay
Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Norm became familiar with the Grand Strand while stationed in Myrtle Beach serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1977 to 1981. He became active in real estate in 1997 and has been heavily involved with the Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® serving on several committees. He was awarded the REALTOR® Image Award in 2006. He now serves as Treasurer for the CCAR board. He is a REALTOR® with Garden City Realty.
Director (3 year term): Jamie Broadhurst
A Myrtle Beach native, Jamie attended Newberry College in South Carolina, spent some time living abroad and returned to Myrtle Beach in 2010 to run Century 21 Broadhurst. Jamie completed Leadership CCAR in 2015 and is currently serving as Vice Chair of Leadership CCAR. He served on the MLS Committee from 2014-2016. He is currently the Chair of RAFT (REALTORS Assistance Fund Trust) and has been a Major RPAC Donor (Realtor Political Action Committee) for the past two years. Jamie also serves the community by volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and Boys & Girls Club, contributing to Easter Seals, and serving on the boards of the Long Bay Symphony and the Performing Arts Center of Myrtle Beach. He is also currently serving on the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Hospitality Committee. In 2017 he received the CCAR REALTOR® Image Award.
Director (2 year term): Radha Herring
Radha is a native of Myrtle Beach and a graduate of Clemson University where she obtained an engineering degree. Since 2006, she’s been an active REALTOR® in the community and currently serves as owner and Broker In Charge at Watermark Real Estate Group. She serves as Chairman of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, is a CCAR Legislative Committee member and has previously served as Chair of LeadershipCCAR and on the CCAR Board of Directors.
Director (1 year term): Ron Jackson
Ron has been a resident of South Carolina since 1990. He is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University where he obtained his business administration degree. Ron is a Certified Distressed Property Expert with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living. He is a CCAR Legislative Committee Chairman and Candidate Screening Chair,. He is also a LeadershipCCAR Chair and serves on the CCAR Grievance Committee and Professional Standards Committee. He is presently serving a term on the CCAR Board of Directors.
Affiliate (3 year term): Pierre Rattini
Pierre was born in Nanaimo British Columbia Canada and graduated from the University in Victoria with a BS in Microbiology. He has been an Affiliate of CCAR since 2011, serves on the Professional Education Committee, teaches CCAR webinars and tech training classes. He is VP of the Board of Directors for the nonprofit SOS and teaches complimentary courses on marketing strategies and social media. He is the owner of MB Buzz Media and Technology Consultancy.
Section 4 of the CCAR Bylaws Concerning Election of Officers and Directors:
(a) At least two (2) months before the annual election, a Nominating Committee of seven (7) REALTOR® Members shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee shall select one candidate for each office and one candidate for each place to be filled on the Board of directors. The report of the Nominating Committee shall be mailed or where permitted by state law, electronically transmitted to each Member eligible to vote at least three (3) weeks preceding the election. Additional candidates for the offices to be filled may be placed in nomination by petition signed by at least 20% of the REALTOR® members eligible to vote. The petition shall be filed (by close of business via personal delivery) with the Chief Staff Executive at least two (2) weeks before the election. The Chief Staff Executive shall send notice of such additional nominations to all Members eligible to vote before the election.(b) The election of Officers and Directors shall take place at the annual meeting. Election shall be by voice vote. If petition candidates are on the ballot, then election will be by ballot and all votes shall be cast in person. The ballots shall contain the names of all candidates and the offices for which they are nominated.(c) The President, with the approval of the Board of Directors, shall appoint an election committee of three (3) REALTOR® Members to conduct the election. In case of a tie vote, the issue shall be determined by lot.
