The Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) Young Professionals Network (YPN) helped students move forward before going back to school this year with their annual School Supply Drive.
Held through Aug. 5, the drive collected 5,956 school supplies for Horry and Georgetown County children in need in grades kindergarten through ninth grade. The supplies were distributed to The Village Group of Georgetown County and the Grand Strand Boys and Girls Club.
That breaks down into: 402 book bags, 630 composition books, 720 loose leaf paper packages, 320 packs of pencils, 300 multi-color writing pens, 520 1 ½- 2-inch binders, 630 one-subject notebooks, 300 colored pencils, 200 boxes of crayons, 520 glue sticks, 200 safety scissors, 900 folders with prongs, 14 packs of construction paper and 300 rulers.
“And that all totals up to hundreds of students who will be better prepared for school this year with all of the right supplies they need in and out of the classroom, says Laura Crowther, CEO of CCAR. “This is one of the many ways we’re committed to giving back to those in need within our community. As professionals, we know that successful careers stem from this kind of support in school.”
Community is one of four areas the CCAR Young Professionals Network becomes involved in; the others are REALTOR® associations, the real estate industry and networking at events, online and mentoring opportunities.
