MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., March 26, 2020– Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) understands that this is a challenging time for our community and the real estate industry, but we also know that, together, we are finding ways to stay ahead of the curve.
“As the times are changing, so are we,” says CCAR president Renny Diedrich. “REALTORS® are showing properties using a variety of technology available, such as Matterport or FaceTime, to tour/walk through a property with a client. They’re also hosting open house events via Facebook Live so other agents can see the property at the same time as buyers. We’re connecting with our clients, just maybe a little different than before.”
In fact, the recently released ShowingTime Showing Index® saw a 20.2% year-over-year increase in showing traffic nationwide. Borrowers, who are locking in the historically low mortgage rates will benefit long term. February 2020 market reports predicted a strong spring ahead, with closed sales up 2.3% for single-family homes and a median sales price increase of 6%.
“Health and safety are our top priorities, so model homes and sales offices are open by appointment only, after a pre-screen check is complete,” says Ashley Hanna, area sales manager at Lennar. “But our sales team has been successful in quickly shifting to an online and virtual selling environment, using video and virtual tours to show homes and community features, and giving personal tours with tools like FaceTime and Zoom. We’ve seen fewer customers in person than usual this time of year, but we are still selling, building and closing homes and continue to see demand for new homes along the Grand Strand.”
