Aynor is a small town in Horry County. It’s slightly south of Galivants Ferry. Its population in 2011 was 647 residents. The town has a total are of 1.1 square miles. Aynor was founded in the mid 19th century as Eyknor’s Farm which was ran by John Eyknor. In the 1900s Aynor acted as a terminus for a railroad from Conway and was incorporated in 1913. Aynor established a bustling tobacco market along with brickyard, cotton gin, and several mills. Aynor along Eighth Ave and South Main Street honors the railroad and tobacco history by a large mural.
