REALTORS® are good neighbors. As such, our members give back to a variety of organizations in the communities they serve. The CCAR Community Outreach Advisory Group has identified five primary organizations to partner with through volunteerism.
We're proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand, a group that's worked for more than 20 years with youth in our area that come from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. Young people are the future of our community, so we’re dedicated to equipping them with the tools they need for success in the future by hosting Dress for Success and Interview Skills career readiness seminars.
Habitat for Humanity of Horry County and Georgetown County are founded on the same principles CCAR was built on in helping to improve living conditions throughout our community. Each year, our REALTOR® volunteers are committed to donating time, money, and manpower for the organization’s annual Habitat for Humanity build of a new home for a needy family.
We stand by our REALTORS®, especially when they fall on hard times. The REALTOR® Assistance Fund Trust (RAFT) is a trust fund managed by CCAR through the Waccamaw Community Foundation to help in providing financial assistance to fellow REALTORS® and their families that are facing financial hardship because of a serious illness. CCAR funds RAFT through donations, gifts, and fundraisers, such as the Mark Sloan Memorial Cancer Golf Tournament and the annual Clay Shotgun Tournament, as well as interest from proceeds from escrow funds.
Our beaches and ocean are our most valuable local assets. After two of the busiest yearly holidays at the beach, Memorial Day and Labor Day, CCAR organizes beach sweeps to return the sand to its pristine condition. These cleanups are open to the community while CCAR provides the necessary supplies. In recent years, we've partnered with the South Carolina Aquarium to study the items collected and their impact on animal habitats.
The Blood Connection keeps the blood collected through donation local meaning that a donation made at one of CCAR's blood drives will go towards saving the life of someone along the Grand Strand. For each event held throughout the year, we average collecting enough blood to save over 1,000 lives. The Advisory Group provides items for a themed gift basket at each blood drive to incentivize participation. Check out our calendar for future opportunities to save a life! #REALTORScare
