Internet Data eXchange (IDX) affords the Brokers of an MLS to authorize the limited display of each other’s listings under their control such as website, mobile app, and audio devices.
Benefits of IDX
Having a presence using IDX allows Agents to acquire and maintain with customers or potential customers. With today's use of technology, buyers and sellers often want to participate in their search for real estate.
IDX requirements
Listed here are some requirements of an IDX which is governed by the MLS Rules & Regulations, Section 17, and may be referred to for full details. Brokers and Agents must be a member of the MLS in which they wish to display listings. Agents must notify the MLS of their intention to display IDX information. The site displaying IDX must clearly identify the brokerage firm under which they operate.

VOW stands for Virtual Office Website (VOW) refers to a Broker or Agent member website or a portion of their website where they offer real estate brokerage services to consumers with whom they have established a broker-consumer relationship as defined by state law. On a VOW the consumer has an opportunity to search the MLS under the agent’s supervision.
VOW requirements
Listed here are some requirements that differentiate a VOW but are not comprehensive. For full details, refer to the CCAR MLS Rules & amp; Regulations, section 18
The Broker or Agent must first establish with that consumer a lawful broker-consumer relationship (as defined by state law)
A VOW owner must require that registered users review and agree to the Terms of Use.
Users of a VOW must register and provide a valid email address and the owner of the VOW must send an email to the registrant confirming they have agreed to the Terms of Use
A user of a VOW must have a unique username and password (with an expiration date) to access the VOW
Is a VOW different than IDX's other Internet sites?
Yes, VOWs can have more information available but are governed by stricter guidelines including those listed above.
